Roy Hinkle Heath was a pilot with 440 Squadron during the Second World War. He was married to Rachel E. Tonkin. They had a son and a daughter.

Roy was from Salina, Kansas, USA, the son of Roy and Olive Heath. He attended the University of Michigan and in 1939 was in his senior year.

111(f) Squadron's website has this information about Roy. "He was a Flying Officer when he transferred into 111 Squadron in early November, 1943 from 132 (f) Squadron at Boundary Bay, British Columbia. He was reported to be ill at the time of his transfer and the re-posting might have been ordered to facilitate a hospital stay at Patricia Bay. He was on the passenger manifest of the troop transport S.S. Pasteur which carried 111 Squadron to England, January 20 to 27, 1944. At some point, probably at the completion of his tour with 440 Squadron, he transferred to RAF No. 193. He served as the Diarist there demonstrating a witty and light-hearted style. He had health issues and he might not have completed his second tour."

After the war, Roy returned to Salina, Kansas and got involved in selling Ramblers, Hudsons, MGs, and Jaguars. He also started racing cars.
