From an RCAF Press Release dated December 26, 1944: A Typhoon had just made a neat crash landing on this forward air Field. The following conversation between F/L Harold Gooding, Ottawa, commanding the RCAF City of Ottawa squadron, and Senior Fitter, F/S Elliott Parkinson, Mitchell, Ontario, is an example of activity during the day operations. F/L Gooding: “Did V go for a burton?” F/S Parkinson: “No. There was a large flak hole on leading edge.” F/L Gooding: “Hit a spar or anything?” F/S Parkinson: “No. Will stick a fabric patch on it. Should be ready in 20 minutes.” F/L Gooding: “Good. Patch ‘em up and keep ‘em moving.”
