Flying Officer N. M. Hughes was noted in the 440 Squadron Diaries on January 10, 1945. According to Hugh Halliday on page 113 in Typhoon and Tempest on the 24th of February, 1945, Hughes led four Typhoons and the got eight cuts with eight bombs on a line southeast of Apeldorn.
