John Colton was born in Paisley, Renfrewshire, Scotland, later immigrating to Canada. In Sherbrooke, Quebec he signed up with the RCAF in 1941 at the age of 19. He became a Typhoon pilot with 137 Squadron during the Second World War. Typhoon SF-K was his assigned mount. Colton passed away in Sherbrooke, Quebec.
